
This calculator can be used to estimate the amount of data in MB (Megabytes) that is transfered in one day to and from a VoIP device if the number of minutes switched to that device is known. This calculation can be useful if you are planning to colocate a VoIP device with a hosting company that includes data transfer requirements into their charging structure. You should check with your hosting company how they measure data transfer. There are two main methods of measuring data transfer:
| • | The sum of the received and transmitted data |
| • | The higher of the two values of received and transmitted data |
VoIP Select uses the second method in its calculations.
The results obtained are most relevant for a terminating gateway that receives calls using VoIP and terminates them to other facilities, such as PRI connections (TDM). For devices that proxy the data by receiving VoIP from one address and sending the same data to another device using VoIP, the result should be doubled.
