In common with all telecommunications engineering calculations, VoIP Select makes some assumptions when working out its results. VoIP Select records these assumptions, and the steps taken in reaching its results in an area called Calculation notes. To reach this area, click on the third tab above the workspace. When it is first opened, it will show the notes relating to the most recent calculation.
Each Calculator block records its input, parameters and output. Additionally, any assumptions made are recorded. For more complicated calculation, such as those involving Voice over IP, a full justification is provided showing the steps taken in reaching each result.
Viewing previous notes
![]()
The calculation notes are stored for seven days. You can view previous calculations using the four navigation buttons above the Calculation notes area. In order, they can be used to move to the earliest note; move to the previous note; move to the next note and move to the most recent note.
Exporting Calculation notes
![]()
The three left-most buttons above the Calculation notes area can be used to export the calculation notes. The first button prints the current note. The second button can be used to save the current note as a Rich Text File (.RTF) which can be imported into a word processor. The final button will be enabled if there are any calculation notes highlighted, and will copy those notes to the Windows Clipboard. From here, they can be pasted into other applications, such as Microsoft Word.
